Belle Vue Cottage is a charming 200 year old stone cottage with many features that seamlessly blends tradition with a few contemporary touches, providing visitors with an unforgettable holiday in Yorkshire.
Beautifully presented, the kitchen is spacious and fully fitted with all necessary amenities, whilst the bright living room features an eclectic mix of furnishings which gives a relaxing, country feel and enjoys some fantastic views across the garden and up the dale. One of the bedrooms served as a pigeon loft back in the day, and there are small steps between a number of the rooms, which add to the property’s endearing old-world charm. Sure enough, this property really does offer the warmest of welcomes regardless of the time of year.
This superb cottage is located in the quaint village of Osmotherley, and is the perfect base for guests wanting to get out and explore the area. Right on the borders of the North York Moors National Park, guests will find that the village is encompassed by magnificent, verdant terrain, open fields and woodland, and there are plenty of footpaths and cycle tracks that lead directly from the village into the countryside. Osmotherley itself benefits from three friendly pubs serving local delicacies, a convenient village store and a chippy.
Osmotherley is ideally situated for exploring both the stark, barren beauty of the North York Moors, as well as the rolling hills and river valleys of the Yorkshire Dales. Yorkshire’s stunning natural features are the perfect backdrop for long walks and bike rides with the family. As you pass along becks and waterfalls, over hills and down dales, make sure you bring a camera as the scenery in this part of the country is stunning as it is varied. The market town of Northallerton is only 7 miles away and is certainly worth a visit, as is the Georgian town of Yarm and the picturesque town of Stokesley, which are 11 miles. Helmsley lies just 15 miles away, and features a number of coffee shops and tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, shops and boutiques.
After a short drive, families staying at Belle Vue Cottage can be wandering the Shambles of York in under an hour. With its medieval architecture, cobbled lanes, the superbly Gothic Minster and the Jorvick Viking Centre, York is the historic capital of the north of England, and for enthusiasts of England’s bloody history during the Middle Ages, spending a day or two in York is a necessity. Alternatively, avid readers might want to explore the literary landscape of Bram Stoker’s infamous novel Dracula in the seaside town of Whitby. The shingle beaches along the coast are hotspots for finding fossils, and Robin Hood’s Bay features one of the most beautiful beaches on the Yorkshire Coast. Also under an hour’s drive is the cathedral city of Durham, Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum. A day in the spa town of Harrogate is essential. A jewel in Yorkshire’s crown, after a heavenly morning spent at the Turkish baths, you can sit in the town’s celebrated tea room Betty’s, whilst enjoying scenic views over the Stray.
