A little further afield but still within easy driving distance are the larger towns including Leyburn 10 miles, Middleham 12 miles, Castle Bolton, West Burton and Harmby which are all popular tourist destinations and offer weekly farmer’s markets selling local produce and goods. A little further afield but still within an easy 12 mile drive are the popular market town of Richmond with its Georgian architecture, castle, shops and theatre. The historic cathedral cities of Durham and York can also be reached within an hour and a half drive too and are certainly worth a day trip.
