Tenbury Wells

Sitting on the banks of the serene River Teme, the delightful market town of Tenbury Wells is ideally located for exploring not only the county of Worcestershire, but Shropshire and Herefordshire too.

Tenbury Wells, officially a Worcestershire town, is separated from Shropshire simply by the width of the River Teme. The county of Hereford is just one mile away. This unique location makes Tenbury Wells an ideal base from which to explore the vast, unspoilt countryside for which this rural area of England is noted.

The town of Tenbury Wells itself has plenty to offer all visitors in its own right. The historic buildings that line the town’s streets are occupied by a fascinating collection of traditional shops, the type of shops that are sadly disappearing from the high streets of many other towns. It’s also famous for its large choice of pubs and restaurants, many of which serve locally sourced produce. The main market day takes place on Tuesdays and there is a smaller market on Fridays and Saturdays.

Perhaps not surprisingly for such an historic town, there are a number of attractions near to Tenbury Wells that are ideal for those interested in history. Lower Brockhampton is a 14th century manor house located in the stunning Brockhampton Estate. This National Trust owned property offers both a fascinating glimpse into days gone by and an array of wildlife, which can be spotted on the many countryside walks available throughout the estate. The long history of Tenbury Wells can be re-lived by visiting the Tenbury Museum, which recounts the story of the town that Queen Victoria once dubbed her ‘Little Town in the Orchard’.
