Castle Combe

Castle Combe in the Cotswolds, is a quintessential English village and has often been referred to as the ‘prettiest village in England’.

It’s much favoured for its cinematic beauty by film makers with scenes from War Horse, Stardust, the 1967 film version of Doctor Doolittle and The Wolf Man, being among the films that were shot here.

In the village St. Andrew’s Church houses one of the few medieval clocks still in use in England, and the village is centred on the 14th century market cross and water pump. There are also many beautiful pubs, restaurants and craft shops.

Lacock Abbey and village are located just seven miles from Castle Combe. Lacock, like Castle Combe, has regularly featured in period TV and film productions, including Pride and Prejudice and Emma, and is a good place to shop or enjoy a meal.

Among the attractions is the 19th century Fox Talbot Photographic Museum. Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre, River Barn, a magical garden located near Malmesbury and American Museum in Britain are among the other attractions within a 10 mile radius of the village. The major historical attractions of Stonehenge, Avebury and the Wiltshire White Horse are also just a short drive away.

The beautiful Cotswolds countryside is popular among walkers and hikers, and a range of other activities, including ballooning, fishing, cycling and horseback riding, are available within the region. Golf can also be played locally. Those who aren''t feeling energetic can simply spend time driving from one beautiful village to the next through enchanting countryside, or explore the sites of Bristol and Bath.

Castle Combe Circuit, a racing track and rally course located on a disused RAF airfield on the edge of the village, is one of its most popular attractions.
