For fans of Foyle’s War, the ITV World War ll detective drama series, Seagull’s Nest is ideally situated - right opposite Foyle’s house! Filming was done from our doorstep. Situated in the heart of the picturesque Old Town, this holiday apartment commands sea views and is within easy walking distance of the beach. Visit Smuggler’s Adventure, Underwater World, Hastings Castle, the Blue Reef Aquarium, Shipwreck Centre and Fisherman’s Museum at Rock-a-Nore, or the prestigious Jerwood Gallery which is located just minutes away. To the east is the majestic cliff coastline and views across the English Channel - the East Hill Country Park has miles of interesting, varied walks and is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rare bird, plant and wildlife species can be found there as well as wonderful views, walks and places to explore. Situated near the beach and country park, and with good train connections to London. Visit Battle, Rye, Brighton, Lewes, Bexhill and Eastbourne. For the children, there is the funfair, amusements, crazy golf, Pirate Golf and a beach football pitch. Plenty of English Heritage and National Trust properties within driving distance - Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, and Batemans - Rudyard Kipling’s house. Plus Battle Abbey, Camber Sands and Herstmonceux Castle. The famous gardens at Great Dixter, and also those at Merriments and Pashley Manor are nearby, and not far from these there is Bodiam Boating Station and the steam railway next door. Pett Level and Winchelsea are within a few miles. Or just wander about Hastings’ fishing beach, with its colourful boats and traditional beach-launched fleet. Hastings Old Town and St Leonards down the road both have art galleries, pubs, restaurants and cafes, and quirky bric a brac and antique shops. There are many memorable events throughout the year, including Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), Jack in the Green, Pirate Day, Old Town Week, Carnival Week, Seafood and Wine Festival, Coastal Currents Art Festival and the famous bonfire night in late October. Perfectly placed in the middle of the popular Old Town area, but also set in a quiet street, Seagull’s Nest gives you the best of both worlds! Interesting shops and even a small independent cinema, 150 yards away. So much to see and do! Many cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs in adjoining streets 100 yards away.
