Once the home of ‘The Looker’, who kept a watchful eye over Little Downash Farm, this well-presented, detached holiday cottage is now an excellent base for a coarse fishing holiday, with a lake situated within the owner’s 20 acre farmland grounds. It is also perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, and there are woodland walks on the doorstep.
Explore the glorious East Sussex countryside via a 5-mile drive through the lanes, across the unspoilt Pevensey Levels (a Site of Special Scientific Interest) and across to Pevensey Bay, a haven for smugglers during the 18th century. The Romans arrived here first, followed later by William Duke of Normandy who turned the Roman fort into Pevensey Castle, whose substantial ruins you can visit today. The inspiring 31-mile 1066 Walk starts at Pevensey Castle through to Herstmonceux - don’t miss the hands-on Science Observatory with over one hundered interactive exhibits and restored telescopes. The walk then continues through Battle and across to the medieval Cinque Port Town of Rye. Why not venture over to Drusillas, where you can be a zoo keeper for the day, or Knockhatch Adventure Park with its ski and snowboard centre. Visit Eastbourne with its excellent sunshine record and International Airshow in August, or Beachy Head and the South Downs National Park which are all within easy driving distance.
