Stroll further along the promenade to Hastings and explore the Old Town, with its weather-boarded cottages, junk shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit the ruins of Hastings Castle or take a trip along The Stade, the old fishing quarter, and indulge in some freshly caught shellfish straight from the boats. The village of Battle with its pretty tea rooms, Rye and its cobbled streets, or Camber Sands make for enjoyable days out. Quebec Barn (ref 26956) was used as local headquarters by Canadian forces in WW ll. Walking plus cycle trails nearby (hire centre, 1/2 mile), Seven Sisters Country Park, 1 mile, and a secluded beach 1½ miles. Cycle through the woods to the lighthouse, or down the lanes and breath the fresh air whilst spotting birds such as buzzards and egrets. In the evening why not cycle to the cosy pub nearby before retiring to your barn in the woods. Enjoy wildlife in the South Downs National Park.
