Woodbridge

The vibrant market town of Woodbridge has a long boating and sailing history conducted from the town’s wonderful quayside, a bustling vintage market scene and an abundance of great places to shop, eat and drink.

The town has a long tradition of boating on the River Deben, and a very bustling quayside area that brings sailing enthusiasts from all around. Its connections with the water continue at the annual seafood festival, where restaurants all over town join in with great enthusiasm.

The town has plenty of character that’s portrayed in its lovely water front buildings and medieval timber-clad houses. There is a great market area, with a vintage market that draws many visitors looking for good local produce as well as plenty of good pubs, bars and restaurants and an excellent high street full of unique shops and independent stores.

The history of the town can be best explored at the famous Tidal Mill, one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the UK. The Mill works as a living museum of the area, with exhibitions and memorabilia inside the main building. Just a few miles out of town you can also visit another piece of history, the Sutton Hoo, an 89 foot long Viking burial ship that is now on display to the public at its National Trust estate.
