Far House is a fabulously designed house with many character features and sits quietly on the edge of the Peak District National Park, ¾ mile outside the tiny Hamlet of Upper Hulme, surrounded by breathtaking views. It stands detached within 11 acres of private rural land, with brooks running through the grounds and gardened areas for simply enjoying the vast amounts of private space. It sits almost directly beneath the infamous ’Roaches’, a spectacular wind-carved outcrop of granite rocks, comprising Ramshaw Rocks and Hen Cloud, both of which are extremely popular with hikers and climbers alike.
To the south you will find Tittesworth Reservoir which offers a wide range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts - whether you want a steady stroll around the water’s edge; make use of the dedicated BBQ areas and keep the children happy with a new play area; take in a spot of food and drink at the café overlooking the water; or something a little more challenging, this place has it all.
This is a peaceful setting with fabulous walks, challenging climbs or relaxing strolls, only a few miles from the moorland market town of Leek. The village pub, only a mile away, serves traditional ales and home cooked food. Next door are the Roaches Tea Rooms, where you can sample some homemade delights.
The spa town of Buxton, famous for its warm springs, offers a host of fine eateries, good shops and gardens including a fascinating museum and art gallery. Visit Buxton Opera House which is the venue for varied and often hosting big name productions. If cycling is your thing, then there are countless routes out into the flatlands of Cheshire, local routes around the moorlands, head out into the stunning Peak District National Park for more challenging terrain, or follow the beautiful High Peak Trail, all of which are right on the doorstep. Enjoy day trips to Peak Wildlife Park where you can pet, feed and meet with some of the animals, or enjoy a thrilling day at Alton Towers with its rides, water parks, spa and gardens.
