The holiday homes are tastefully styled and are on the site of a former granary within the grounds of a popular stable yard, where horse riding lessons and livery can be arranged (by prior arrangement). The properties are named after some of the local fields which stretch towards the nearby South Downs. They have between one and three bedrooms; some are interconnecting, making them up to four bedrooms, perfect for larger groups or families. The living space is contained within a traditional Hampshire weatherboard barn exterior. Each of the homes have been furnished and equipped with comfort and convenience in mind and all have wi-fi and cable broadband. Middledown (ref 31244) has wheelchair access rated for Mobility Level 2. There are outdoor seating areas in the shared paved courtyard with garden furniture and barbecue area. We welcome cyclists, walkers and those with limited mobility. The on-site riding school is a long established business, and welcomes all ages and abilities, and there are junior course weeks during the school holidays.

    There is so much to see and do in this scenic area. Chawton is just over a mile away, home to Jane Austen’s House, where she wrote a number of her great works. It is now has a museum dedicated to her. There is also Chawton House Library, an internationally renowned research institution. Portsmouth with its historic dockyard, Spinnaker Tower, the D-Day and Royal Marines museums, Gunwharf Quays, various museums, art and entertainments, waterside dining and shopping outlets, is about a 40-minute drive, as is Chichester, with its ornate cathedral, festival theatre, cinema, Goodwood Races and Fontwell Races. Other places of interest locally include Gilbert White’s House in nearby Selborne, 3 miles, which is also a haven for flora and fauna.

    Alresford is about 8 miles away, with the Watercress Line steam railway – a delightful trip on an old steam train stopping at various stations along the way. Also worth a visit, is the market town of Petersfield with main line station and Winchester, with its cathedral, Guildhall Water Meadows and Intech Science Centre and Planetarium. Children will love Marwell Wildlife Park, Peppa Pig World, Birdworld and Farnham, with Alice Holt Forest Woods, home to Go Ape treetop adventure. The Queen Elizabeth Country Park at Horndean has 1,400 acres of woodland and downland, and is about 9 miles distant. The beaches at Wittering and Hayling are within easy reach, about a 40-minute drive, and sailing in the Solent is possible from numerous marinas in the area.
