With unspoilt countryside all around, and reached by a long, sweeping driveway, the country cottages are nestling in a sheltered, wooded valley overlooking the River Quarme.     The cottages make the perfect base for holidays at any time of the year. There are five acres of lovely gardens for you to enjoy and explore. A stream cascades through the hillside garden, there is ample space in which to sit and relax, or enjoy a family picnic or barbecue.     From Triscombe Farm you can explore the magic of Exmoor, an area of wild natural beauty, inhabited by native ponies and red deer. The National Park rangers provide guided walks.


    A few miles from Triscombe is Exmoor’s spectacular northern coast, the highest in Britain, where steep cliffs plunge into the sea. You can enjoy fantastic coastal walks here along the cliff top coastal path, with dramatic views of the coastline and out to sea. From Dunkery Beacon (1707ft) there are panoramic views to Wales, Dartmoor and beyond. Minehead is only 10 miles away with a beach, Butlins, harbour and fantastic steam railway. Historic Dunster (NT castle) is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. Porlock and Dulverton offer interesting shops and tea shops where you can enjoy a traditional Somerset cream tea. There are many places to visit locally including Knightshayes Court, a splendid Victorian house at Tiverton.

Also close by is Steart Marshes Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust for a rich mix of wetland wildlife including otters, egrets, owls, waders and wildfowl. There are fishing lakes, also about 500 yards away with carp and coarse fishing (daily tickets required).

    Bridgwater Carnival takes place on the nearest Saturday to Bonfire Night, and makes a fabulous night out. There are many National Trust properties close by including Dunster Castle and Gardens. Taunton is ideal for shopping with many local shops, cafés and restaurants. Minehead is worth a visit with its lovely beaches. Take a trip on the West Somerset Steam Railway from Minehead to the pretty harbour town of Watchet. Also worth a visit are Porlock and Porlock Weir close by.
