Wheddon Cross is also the location for one of the most renowned displays of snowdrops in February each year. From the top gate of the farm, guests can walk up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, where the views are far-reaching. During your stay, there is plenty to do and enjoy, with superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor where you will find points of interest such as Withypool, Lanacre and Tarr Steps. Exmoor is also nominated as a ’Dark Sky’ area, making it an excellent location to study the sky at night. Along the coast, there are the Victorian towns of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), Valley of the Rocks and funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to walk along whilst eating an ice cream, and the town also has a good array of shops and other amenities; you can also take a trip on the famous West Somerset Steam Railway. A visit to the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (NT), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill and not forgetting its now famous ’Dunster by Candlelight Festival’ held at the beginning of December. The villages of Porlock, Porlock Weir and Selworthy are all worth a visit. There are dog-friendly beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. The owner offers the use of a kennel on request and if required during your stay (pets are allowed in both properties). Shop, pub and petrol garage 2 miles.
