Oswestry

The ancient market town of Oswestry has a long and turbulent history, largely due to its location close to the border between England and Wales. It also makes it the perfect destination for those looking to explore North West Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Oswestry is a busy town, yet its cobbled passageways and friendly people give it an intimate, rural feel. Because much of the town centre is a conservation area, you''ll find many fine examples of Georgian architecture sitting alongside old timber framed buildings.

For a good family day out visit Whittington Castle; this 12th century moated castle is set in stunning grounds that are free to explore, and there''s also a second hand bookshop that''s well worth checking out.
