Designated as an Area Outstanding Natural Beauty, the countryside around Bishop''s Castle is perfect for anyone looking to get back to nature and enjoy some of the most delightful walking country in the UK. There are plenty of trails for all abilities, from the long distance Shropshire Way to some lovely, shorter, circular strolls around the town’s environs. There are numerous friendly pubs in the area at which to rest and enjoy a pint of locally brewed ale and some delicious home cooked food.

The town centre is graced with a lovely mix of architectural styles, and there is a selection of shops and galleries, selling everything from local crafts to holiday essentials. The town hosts regular farmers'' markets selling a variety of delicious organic produce, so pack up a picnic and head up to the site of the ancient castle at the top of the town; the views are to die for!

The town is rightly proud of its past and has two museums, one detailing the fascinating past of the local area and another that celebrates the rich history of the famous Bishop’s Castle Railway.

The gastronomic centre of Ludlow with its market and castle and the fascinating Coalbrookdale museums at Ironbridge are about half an hour away as is the county town of Shrewsbury with all modern facilities including theatre, multiplex cinema and many restaurants is 20 minutes’ drive. Walking, golf, fishing, gliding, paragliding and pony trekking are amongst the numerous outdoor holiday activities the area is famous for. The Long Mynd, Offa’s Dyke, the Shropshire Way and the Stiperstones are all nearby. Shops, pubs and restaurant 1¼ miles.
