Often referred to as the gateway to Kielder Water and Forest Park, the town of Bellingham is a perfect self catering cottage base for both rural, relaxing breaks in the heart of the Northumberland countryside and for those looking for plenty of outdoor activities for all ages.

Bellingham itself is a small but thriving town, which always offers a warm welcome to visitors. Its location is ideal for exploring not only the Northumberland National Park, but also Kielder Water and Forest Park. Not surprisingly, both of these destinations are hugely popular with both walkers and cyclists. Keilder Water and Forest Park has a number of purpose-built trails that wind their way through secluded forests and it also contains the largest man-made lake in northern Europe. Lovers of wildlife are spoilt for choice here, with red squirrels, roe deer, otters and badgers all to be found within the confines of the park.

Just to the south is the world renowned Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located a short drive from Bellingham; this most famous of Roman structures runs through some truly stunning countryside. In addition to the surviving stretches of Hadrian’s Wall, other Roman treasures can be found nearby, including forts and temples.
