Find cottages in Wells-next-the-Sea

Wells-Next-The-Sea has a sweeping beach, a small fishing harbour and is one of the most picturesque towns on the North Norfolk Coast.

This unspoilt seaside destination is perfect for peaceful, relaxing holidays without the crowds you might find in bigger coastal resorts. As you wander through the town browse the independent shops before stopping at the quay for some fish and chips while you watch the boats coming and going. In town there are fine restaurants and cosy traditional pubs to be found.

The clean sandy beach here goes on for miles; great for beach combing and family days by the sea. To get there, just hop aboard the miniature steam train that travels from the town down to the beach and you could always walk back along the raised path, which offers great views over the channel and salt marshes.

The surrounding area also has lots to offer, including beautiful unspoilt countryside, family walks, excellent bird watching and of course watersports. This area is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the Holkham National Nature Reserve. In fact viewers of BBC’s Springwatch and Autumnwatch might be interested to know that Pensthorpe, where the filming took place, is close by.

For a photo opportunity with a difference take the kids alpaca trekking; you get to walk these animals along the clifftop path, while the owner tells you a little about the history of the local town, coast and countryside.

Situated in a designated conservation area, close to the Norfolk Coastal Path, Hawthorn House has been a much loved family home and offers a peaceful retreat from which to explore all that the area has to offer. The semi-detached holiday property has gardens to front and rear as well as at the side, and is right next to an attractive woodland area. In fact, it isn’t unusual to see visiting rabbits, hares, pheasants, foxes or even deer while you sit and relax in the adjacent south-facing garden. Warham is a traditional Norfolk farming village owned by the Earl of Leicester, and has strong connections with Holkham Hall. Views from the house to the north are of Holkham Estate farmland and Wells-next-the-Sea.
