Orchard House is situated 3 miles from the lovely East Norfolk Coast seaside resort of Winterton-on-Sea, with its roots in fishing. The sand dunes are nature reserve classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and ideal for bird watching and walking. Just north of Winterton is a colony of grey seals that can be regularly seen basking on the beach or popping their heads up over the waves.
    The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth is 9 miles away with its pier entertainment and amusements and the Time and Tide Museum. The North Norfolk Coast is well worth exploring with its pretty coastal villages. For children, BeWILDerwood at Horning offers an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat trips which, when all combined, add up to a great day out. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area, which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest Jacobean houses in East Anglia), the beautifully landscaped Sheringham Park and the magnificent Blickling Hall with its woodland and lakeside walks. Horsey Wind Pump is only 3 miles away (and a good destination for a boat trip).
    For a special meal or family celebration a gourmet meal can be arranged with the owner. There are shops and pubs in the village 1 mile away.

Or go upriver in a day boat and discover charming waterside pubs and restaurants and pretty broads villages, such as Beccles, St Olaves and Somerleyton. The popular Blue Flag beaches of Lowestoft and Gorleston are close by, and further afield, picturesque drives lead into the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside with its many excellent gastro pubs, and to the Suffolk Heritage Coast including Southwold, Walberswick and Aldeburgh.
