Louth

The delightful Georgian market town of Louth is picturesquely situated in the lush and green Lincolnshire Wolds. It is the perfect base from which to explore the picture-perfect landscape that inspired one of our most beloved poets, Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Retaining all the charm of its great age, today Louth is a bustling place, with all the modern amenities you could wish for as well as Georgian streets and listed buildings. It boasts a fabulous selection of shops selling a range of high quality local produce and crafts. In the evening, head to the cool art deco cinema or popular theatre to catch a show, or just sit back and enjoy a locally brewed ale in one of a selection friendly gastro pubs.

A great way to get your bearings is from St James’s church, which boasts spectacular views from its tall Gothic steeple. Don’t miss a trip to the little museum; it provides a fascinating insight into the area’s long history.

Louth is a magnet for walkers. There are routes for all abilities, ranging from flat strolls along the canal to more demanding hikes that go right into the heart of the Wolds which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

For more activities there is a selection of great facilities nearby including gliding, horse riding, fishing and golf, while lovers of speed will clamour to visit the renowned motor racing circuit at nearby Cadwell Park.

Explore everything the beautiful Wolds has to offer; search Louth holiday cottages.
