Find cottages in Grantham

Much more than just the birthplace of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the town of Grantham is surrounded by rolling green countryside and has a rich historic legacy, ripe for exploring.

Grantham is perfect for those interested in history. Indeed, the town was mentioned in the Domesday Book, but its origins are said to sit even further back in history, perhaps around the 6th century. Today, Grantham boasts a number of historic houses and museums that are well-worth visiting.

One of the finest buildings here is undoubtedly Belvoir Castle, which dates back to Norman Times. Although the present castle was built much later, in the 19th century, it is still a magnificent structure that has a stunning interior and enjoys breath-taking views from its elevated position above the Lincolnshire countryside.

Dating from the 17th century, nearby Belton House is another fine stately home that proves popular with tourists. In the town itself, Grantham Museum houses a number of artefacts that tell the story of the town and some of its more famous former residents, including the scientist Sir Isaac Newton, who attended school here.

In addition to its many historic houses and beautiful countryside walks, Grantham also has attractions to suit younger members of the family. One of the most popular is Fun Farm, home to rope bridges, ball pools, slides, net climbs and all manner of fantastically fun things for kids.

To experience the history and splendour of Grantham for yourself, check out the availability of Grantham holiday cottages now.
