Whatever the weather, the view across England’s largest lake with a back drop of the Langdales is simply mesmerising. Ambleside is well equipped for the self catering guest with a good variety of shops for supplies as well as cafes, bars and restaurants for all budgets and plenty of outdoor clothing retailers if you get caught in a shower or two.
    Borranside is a cosy detached bungalow, delightfully furnished and decorated with contemporary prints and colours and is ideally situated, a short level walk from the village. The lovely patio style gardens provide plenty of sitting out space and shade if needed and offer a good degree of privacy for guests. With plenty of off road parking, you can simply forget about your car for the week. Why not ’go green’ and sample the other excellent transport options available to you? There’s an electronic cart which runs every hour from Waterhead to the town centre and back. You can catch the open top Stagecoach buses or the famous steamers which depart from the pier just minutes walk from Borranside.

    The property may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties as there are a number of steps leading down to the boathouse from the car park area.
