Grey Goat House is not your typical holiday cottage, from 1900 until early 2012 it was the Grey Goat Inn which the owner has now converted it to something quite unique. This Grade II listed building dates back to 1780 and is full of character, the lounge retains the original pub furnishings, complete with solid oak bar, cosy open fire and oak beams. It is the perfect base for a full weeks self catering holiday. Situated in the St Helens Street conservation area of Cockermouth, 100 metres from the vibrant market square, with great pubs, shops, restaurants and the Kirkgate Theatre, 400 metres from Jennings Brewery (ideal for stocking your bar) and Wordsworth house, birthplace of William Wordsworth. It is close to several lakes, including Loweswater, Buttermere and Crummock Water and the stunning Cumbrian coast. The Cockermouth area is extremely popular with cyclists and Grey Goat House provides secure storage for bikes.
