Nearby old stone  slabs can still be seen where traders laid out their wares, as can the stocks in which  wrongdoers were punished. Bordering the square the Tourist Information Office is adjacent to ’Beswicks’ a charming restaurant, close to some of the cafes and excellent traditional pub where a welcoming atmosphere, fine foods and Real Ales can be enjoyed. Delicious and traditional foods are available from the small friendly local shops, the bakers and the butchers have deservedly been recommended by several of the country’s top chefs.
