Kent is a truly special place. It is known as the ‘Garden of England’ due to its beautiful scenery and diverse landscapes, and it has recently won accolades for its up-and-coming vineyards. Along the coastline, the White Cliffs of Dover look towards Continental Europe, and they were a focal point during the Battle of Britain – one of the most pivotal battles of World War II. Meanwhile, the cathedral city of Canterbury is prized for its historical, religious and literary significance, and the city centre is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Cottages with pools in Kent allow visitors to combine historical trips with classic cottage life, in an ode to another era. Enjoy a leisurely morning stroll in the countryside, before stopping off at a pretty market town such as Ashford or Tunbridge Wells for an indulgent afternoon tea. Then round off your day with a spot of shopping, either in the county town of Maidstone or in one of the many rural villages which specialise in antiques and gourmet foods.

For classic seaside holidays, Kent’s long and varied coastline is a perennial favourite. While the stony beaches of Whitstable are not exactly ideal for sun-bathing, this pretty fishing town is incredibly photogenic, and serves some of the best oysters in the UK.

Cottages with private pools near Folkestone offer easy access to the sandy beaches of Kent’s south-east coast, and on a clear day you can even see France on the horizon! Further along the coast, the smaller beaches of Broadstairs and Deal are much less touristy, and if you arrive early you may even get the whole beach to yourself, so you can spend the morning paddling in the English Channel, building sandcastles, or collecting shells along the shoreline.

A holiday cottage with a pool will give you something to look forward to in the evening, when the sun goes down, the cafes and shops close, and all you want to do is relax with a glass of local wine by your own private swimming pool.
