Surrounded by the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty, the market town of Stroud is one of the most picturesque in the region. The ‘capital’ of the south western Cotswolds, Stroud is located at the meeting point of Five Valleys and is renowned for its steep streets, stunning views and exceptional beauty.

There’s an abundance of historical buildings here and well established parks scattered throughout the town. Woodchester Mansion is a 19th Century Victorian Gothic masterpiece that was abandoned in 1873 and remaining untouched by the modern world to this day; both venues offer insight into the town’s history. The Arts and Crafts Museum is also well worthwhile, as are visits to beautiful historical buildings such as the Hill Paul Building, the Subscription Rooms and the School of Science and Art.

Stroud features some attractive outdoor attractions including walks along the canal towpath leading from Stroud to Stonehouse, and a wander in Stroud Park or a picnic in Woodchester Park are lovely ways to enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends.

Due to its location, Stroud offers easy access to walking trails that lead off into the Cotswold countryside, and holidaymakers can choose between a good selection of short or longer hikes.
