    These two delightful detached cottages (refs 29648 and 29649) are located on the foot slopes of Dunkery Beacon at Exmoor’s highest point. Situated around the yard of the owner’s small farm, the cottages are an ideal holiday destination for those seeking peace and quiet, but also to explore this stunning area of Exmoor and Somerset. Due to the layout and nature of the farm, the cottages are not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Both properties offer well-appointed and furnished accommodation and also have the extra comfort of a woodburner with a plentiful supply of logs. There is a decked area with each cottage where guests can sit out and enjoy the local surroundings. Each cottage comes with its own lockable store cupboard for bikes and surf boards and also has its own kennel area. The local village of Wheddon Cross is a short distance away and has a well-stocked local shop and a pub. Wheddon Cross is also the location for one of the most renowned displays of snowdrops in February each year. From the top gate of the farm, guests can walk up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, where the views are far-reaching. During your stay, there is plenty to do and enjoy, with superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor where you will find points of interest such as Withypool, Lanacre and Tarr Steps. Exmoor is also nominated as a ’Dark Sky’ area, making it an excellent location to study the sky at night. Along the coast, there are the Victorian towns of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), Valley of the Rocks and funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to walk along whilst eating an ice cream, and the town also has a good array of shops and other amenities; you can also take a trip on the famous West Somerset Steam Railway. A visit to the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (NT), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill and not forgetting its now famous ’Dunster by Candlelight Festival’ held at the beginning of December. The villages of Porlock, Porlock Weir and Selworthy are all worth a visit. There are dog-friendly beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. The owners conveniently live on site and a detached cedar lodge (ref 31042) in a garden setting provides additional accommodation. In a totally secluded setting at the end of a third of a mile of private drive, with panoramic views of the sea and Quantock Hills, Periton Park Court is surrounded by 30 acres of its own gardens, pasture and woodland with direct access to the Exmoor National Park. There is also the use of a heated outdoor pool, open from May to September. Periton Park Court provides a gateway to the Exmoor National Park. A fenced track that crosses fields to the south provides direct access to the park. It is a perfect playground for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. For the adventurous mountain biker, there are tracks prepared by local enthusiasts in the woods just south of Periton - be prepared as it’s not flat! If you haven’t yet discovered Exmoor, you are in for a treat. It is the undiscovered corner of the south west with quiet country lanes and uncrowded beauty spots even in the busy July/August months. Those that have discovered Exmoor return again and again. For beach lovers there are a number of beaches within a short distance, Minehead Beach/Harbour 1.5 miles, Dunster Beach 3 miles, Blue Anchor Beach 5 miles and Porlock Weir Harbour/Beach 5 miles. The famous surfing beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde are approximately 90 minutes west by car on roads with some spectacular scenery to view as you cross Exmoor. Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, games room and all-weather tennis court (please bring your own racquets and balls). Natural water is provided from our own spring. With unspoilt countryside all around, and reached by a long, sweeping driveway, the country cottages are nestling in a sheltered, wooded valley overlooking the River Quarme. Each of the cottages has been individually styled and equipped to offer comfortable holiday accommodation.

    The cottages make the perfect base for holidays at any time of the year. There are five acres of lovely gardens for you to enjoy and explore. A stream cascades through the hillside garden, there is ample space in which to sit and relax, or enjoy a family picnic or barbecue.     From Triscombe Farm you can explore the magic of Exmoor, an area of wild natural beauty, inhabited by native ponies and red deer. Exmoor Safaris take you right into the heart of this area of heather clad moors, sheltered wooded combes, pretty villages with thatched cottages and ancient packhorse bridges. The National Park rangers provide guided walks.


    A few miles from Triscombe is Exmoor’s spectacular northern coast, the highest in Britain, where steep cliffs plunge into the sea. You can enjoy fantastic coastal walks here along the cliff top coastal path, with dramatic views of the coastline and out to sea. From Dunkery Beacon (1707ft) there are panoramic views to Wales, Dartmoor and beyond. Minehead is only 10 miles away with a beach, Butlins, harbour and fantastic steam railway. Historic Dunster (NT castle) is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. Porlock and Dulverton offer interesting shops and tea shops where you can enjoy a traditional Somerset cream tea. There are many places to visit locally including Knightshayes Court, a splendid Victorian house at Tiverton.
