Find cottages in Maldon

The ancient town of Malden is situated in a pretty corner of Essex, with the River Chelmer flowing through and overlooking the impressive Blackwater Estuary; a lovely area for a cottage holiday in Essex.

The quaint streets of the town are home to a charming mix of ancient timber framed buildings, quirky boutiques, traditional shops and galleries. Maldon also has a good range of places to eat out, from cosy coffee shops to traditional pubs and fine dining establishments.

The hundred year old Promenade Park is a delightful place to take a stroll and enjoy the atmosphere of the town. Extremely popular with children, the park is full of fun activities, including a fabulous splash area and several playgrounds. Next to the gates of the park you will find the Maldon Museum, which is packed full of interesting displays and exhibits that provide a fascinating insight into the development of town over the centuries. Within a few miles of the town there is an ice-rink, bowling alley and soft play centre to entertain kids of all ages on any rainy days.

For a different perspective of this delightful part of Essex take a boat trip; the popular Viking Saga trip leaves from the sea wall between The Hythe and Promenade Park and takes a 40 minute jaunt out beyond Heybridge Basin in the direction of Osea Island and then back again.
