Just 2 miles away, the vast golden sandy beach of Westward Ho! is popular with surfers, and if you’d rather stay a little closer to home, you can saunter along the coastal path that follows the river, yards from the water’s edge. The nearest slipway is 200 yards downriver, whilst keen cyclists and walkers can join the Tarka Trail, which passes through Bideford.
