There is great cycling along the Tarka Trail, with a number of places to hire bikes. The villages of Clovelly and Hartland are well worth a day out and there is fun activities for little ones at the Big Sheep and Milkyway Adventure Park. Slightly further afield is the Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe and the cliff towns of Lynton and Lynmouth with its famous cliff railway. Golf, swimming and walking are all available locally. Shop 1½ miles, pub 700 yards and restaurant 3 miles.

Exmoor and the South West Coast Path are located close by and on a clear day the views of the surrounding coast and countryside can be spectacular from these well known walking areas. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes, the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington and Marwood Gardens 2 miles away.
