The property has the benefit of offering livery stabling for up to 2 horses or ponies and this can be arranged direct with the owner. The cottage is very quaint with lots of characterful touches and it is only a short walk into the small town of Whaley Bridge where there are 3 dog friendly pubs which serve food.

The lively town of Matlock Bath, approximately 2½ miles by car or walk through woodland, has a mining museum, Abraham Cable Cars and Gullivers Kingdom. All the scenic delights of the Peak District are a short drive including Carsington Water, High Peak Trail, Dovedale and the Manifold Valley. The market towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne are all within a half hour drive along with Chatsworth House, Haddon Halla and the Crich Tramway Village all a similar drive. Baslow, 4 miles from Bakewell, is home to the exceptional Chatsworth House and gardens or visit the medieval manor house of Haddon Hall. You can also join the traffic free Monsal Trail for walking or cycling. Nearby Peak District villages include Ashford in the Water and Rowsley and you can reach the spa town of Buxton, Castleton with its caves, Matlock and Carsington Water in around half an hour. The UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers is around a 45 minute drive.

It is located in the conservation village of Stanton, just 3 miles from the historic town of Ashbourne and 2 miles from the southern edge of the Peak District. This is a snug retreat for all seasons. The peaceful surroundings are ideally suited to walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists and all who love the countryside. Cycle hire is available nearby.
    Ashbourne retains many small, privately owned shops, including antiques. There is a wide choice of cafés, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.
    The southern Peak Park has many attractions - beautiful Dovedale, the spa town of Buxton, Matlock and the Heights of Abraham. Lesser known Leek, the "Queen of the Moorlands", has a lengthy history, with a number of old and interesting buildings. The Nicholson Institute houses a museum and art gallery.
    Within easy reach of Stanton are Cheadle, with its magnificent Pugin Church, for the more adventurous, outdoor activities at Carsington Water, and for excitement Alton Towers. Further afield are many places of interest, including Bolsover Castle, Calke Abbey, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Old Hall, Kedleston Hall and Shugborough. For those interested in our industrial heritage, there are pottery museums in Stoke and Derby, Arkwrights Mill at Cromford and The Silk Museum in Macclesfield.
