The beautiful Hope Valley winds its way through the heart of the Peak District National Park and is home to several picture postcard villages, where you’ll find the perfect cottage for a romantic break or family holiday.

The area is one of the country''s most popular National Parks and will take your breath away with its wide open spaces and glorious countryside. There are wild moors and rolling hills, dramatic rock faces, caves, rivers, streams and waterfalls.

The undulating hills make the area popular with walkers, cyclists and those in search of adventure pursuits such as skydiving, paragliding and many more. The most popular walks are Mam Tor, with its Iron Age fort and breathtaking views, and Winnats Pass, a deep, limestone gorge. The area is dotted with caves and the underground caverns and tunnels are a magnet for cavers and potholers.

The scenic village of Castleton is one of the prettiest villages in the area and is known as the Gem of the Peaks. The village dates back to the 11th Century and features a wide range of attractions to explore, including the ancient Peveril Castle, which towers over the village and provides spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Also in the village are several caves, including the fascinating Speedwell Cavern, where visitors can take a boat trip through the eerie waters of an underground mine.

    As a village, Bradwell is a picturesque, rabbit-warren of narrow lanes and tiny cottages, built up a steep hillside, and as can be seen from Lillegarth, the village is surrounded by fabulous countryside. Making an excellent base, local facilities within the village include shops, pubs and places to eat. A local pub serving food is less than a minutes’ walk from the end of the lane, and if you’re familiar with Bradwell’s Dairy Ice Cream, it is lovingly made in the village with a shop for you to go and enjoy.

    The surrounding area holds a whole host of attractions including the ever popular honeypot village of Castleton, just 10 minutes away. Hathersage, also 10 minutes, is a larger village with a wealth of facilities including an open-air heated swimming pool in the summer months. The market town of Bakewell, home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, can be reached in just 20 minutes, and the spa town of Buxton in around half an hour. For outdoor enthusiasts, being surrounded by National Park countryside means there are numerous tracks, trails and footpaths offering cycling and walks from Bradwell, and the start of the Pennine Way is at nearby Edale.
