There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells.     Being close to the A38 makes this the perfect place from which to explore South Devon, Torquay (with its sandy beaches, 12 miles) and Plymouth, 25 miles (to see the Hoe, the Barbican, the National Marine Aquarium which is ideal for children and adults). The Eden Project (approximately
    1½ hours drive) is a fabulous day out. Crealy Adventure Park is 20 miles. Exeter has a magnificent cathedral and quay, whilst a boat trip can be taken up the river to two stunning pubs. There are many villages to explore and stop off for a Devon cream tea. Dartmoor is on the doorstep, with its stunning scenery and heather clad rocky tors and ponies, and is a walkers’ paradise at any time of year, with Becky Falls (rocks and waterfalls), 8 miles. Paignton not only has more sandy beaches, but also a famous zoo.
    Visit the South Hams, taking in Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. Go the other direction and take in the Jurassic Coast, or visit Beer, Branscombe and Seaton to take a ride on the Seaton Tramway. There is so much to see and do that visitors will have to keep coming back year after year to take it all in. Shop 500 yards, pub ½ mile.

Following the River Avon upstream will take you over Shipley Bridge and up on the moors to the Avon Dam which is a wonderful scenic walk or you could take your bikes and cycle the route.
