Overbeck Cottage has a outdoor patio overlooking the river and a spacious car park just across the private foot bridge from the property.The property is within a few metres of the River Rothay (which flows through the garden) where fishing is available:Type of fishing: limited fly fishing. Locals tend to use worm or spinner.Type of fish: The river holds brown trout. Very occasional late season salmon and sea trout turn up. Townend (National Trust), a traditional Lake District farmhouse, is a short walk away and there are wonderful longer walks from the village including over Wansfell to Ambleside. An addition to the village delights is the shop and tearoom just round the corner from Granary Cottage. The shop now under new management has an excellent stock of food, drink and household necessities, has daily papers (except Sunday) and lots of home made foods are cooked on the premises.The cottage is available for two adults or one adult and one child. One baby can be accommodated if guests bring their own travel cot.*Sadly, The Queen’s Head suffered a serious fire in June 2014 and will be closed for some time whilst restoration work takes place.Townhead is also currently closed.
