The Cotswolds have a reputation for being one of the prettiest and most tranquil spots in Great Britain. From the classic stone villages, to the endless meadows of the countryside, and the ancient farmhouses in the distance – it is a postcard-perfect version of English life.
Stretching across several counties, the Cotswolds are within easy commuting distance of London, yet holiday cottages with pools in the Cotswolds area will feel a world away from the busy life of the city. The area is characterised by its rolling meadows and tiny villages, all built out of that distinctive golden ‘Cotswolds stone’. Take your time and get to know each individual corner of the Cotswolds, with their unique personalities and offerings.
In Oxfordshire, the towns of Chipping Norton and Witney are foodie heaven, with plenty of farm-fresh produce and locally-made breads, beers and cheeses. Cottages with pools in Somerset offer easy access to the nearby cities of Bath and Bristol, as well as the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, while cottages in Warwickshire and Worcestershire are closer to Stratford-upon-Avon - the literary capital of the world.
But if you just want that traditional village experience, veer away from the tourist trail and visit lesser-known places such as Naunton (in Gloucestershire) or Castle Combe (in Wiltshire). The Cotswolds are best explored on wheels, but if you don’t have a car, a bicycle will take you from village to village, just as long as you are able to manage the odd hill (or ‘wold’ in local parlance).
Cottages with private pools in the Cotswolds give you the freedom to enjoy the area at your own pace, whether that means happily strolling from one gastro-pub to the next, or hiking through the countryside on the outskirts of the towns.
When you are staying at a cottage with a swimming pool, you will feel right at home in this idyllic setting.
