The Discovery Centre here tells the story of the Tamar Valley, offering a gateway to the wider estate and is just a short walk through the Morden Valley to the sister property Cotehele Mill. Cotehele welcome dogs and there are some great walks on the miles of paths around the estate, at the quay and in the mill grounds. Further along the coast is the quaint fishing village of Mousehole, with its charming old-world ambience, winding streets, cobbled alleyways and sandy harbour beach.

    Owing to the South West Coastal Paths that follows the coastline, the area is popular with walkers. To the east of Penzance lies Marazion – a birdwatcher’s paradise thanks to the nature reserve of Marazion Marshes. There’s also St Michael’s Mount to visit – a rocky outcrop that rises out of the sea crowned with a medieval castle. St Michael’s Mount can be reached on foot via a causeway at low tide, or by a small boat at high tide.
