    Cornwall has plenty of family attractions, and is also well-known for arts, culture, history, heritage, gardens, food, drink, film, TV and literature. Beaches in the local area, Watergate Bay, and the surf beaches of Newquay, lie within five miles along the coast road southwards, and the seven bays and beaches of St Merryn and Padstow are 10 miles to the north. Further afield, the beaches of Marazion, St Ives, Sennen, Kynance Cove, Falmouth, Perranporth and Porthcurno are among the top ten in the county (according to the Cornwall Guide). Even if the weather is poor, do what the locals do - wrap up warm, take a brisk walk in the wind, watch the waves crash on the rocks and let the Cornish sea air blow the cobwebs away!

    Other attractions including the educational Eden Project and Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, are not far away. Cornwall is steeped in myths, legends and folklore, from ‘piskies’ and ’faeries’ to kings and castles. There are plenty of sandy beaches nearby, where you can get surfing and kayaking tuition. Alternatively, try hiking across Bodmin Moor, cycling the Camel Trail, horse riding, golf, rock climbing or sailing. This is an ideal base from which to explore the whole of Cornwall, Dartmoor and North Devon.
