    The hamlet of Pentewan just minutes from Mevagissey, has a large sandy beach an off road cycle trail, bike hire, kayak hire and dive centre.
    For a different day out, a ferry sails from Mevagissey in high season to the seafaring town of Fowey across the bay. Galleries, cafes, highly regarded restaurants, bistros and tea rooms all provide the refreshment while dolphin spotting trips, deep sea fishing trips and sailing trips can all be booked from the town quay. A literary festival and royal regatta take place in the town throughout the year and both are well worth visiting.
    Many walks can be taken around this part of the county from coastal rambles, disused heritage trails that cross the county, to inland wooded walks to something a little more strenuous for the more active.
    Horse riding, surfing, cycling and National Trust houses and gardens are plentiful in the area.
    A little further afield but easily reached is Truro, Padstow, Newquay, St Ives and Lostwithiel all providing an alternative view of this dramatic and beautiful county. Shop, pub and restaurant 700 yards.

    The Captain’s House lies at the northern end of a row of stone cottages, originally built for the HM Coastguards, on a slight rise and overlooking the lighthouse some 500 yards away. The cottage has been lovingly restored and is full of glorious books from the era, as well as shipwreck and fascinating marine memorabilia, ensuring guests have a comfortable, relaxing holiday and providing the perfect place in which to unwind. It has a large granite cellar under the stairs, as well as a lower bathroom (unfortunately not accessible now for safety reasons), which was used for storing the more valuable items taken from wrecks, weapons, general supplies and, of course, rum. The Coastguards, as was British Naval tradition, would have been issued a daily tot of rum, with an extra ration during times of hardships such as a rescue from floundered vessels, or celebrations such as the monarch’s birthday. Until only a generation ago, the inhabitants of these cottages were the toughest of men with a very dangerous occupation. Most of them entered the Coastguards from the Royal Navy and the first postings for the period 1819-1866 can be traced in the parish, remembered to this day. The Captain’s House has been restored with the objective of retaining as much of its original character as possible including the original fireplaces (with their naval anchor logos), and the many nautical artefacts that reflect its history and the personalities of its earlier residents.
    When enjoying a good glass of wine and maybe admiring a lovely sunset, or watching high seas on a stormy winter’s evening, give a thought to the brave men who were hugely interesting and larger-than-life personalities who resided here.
    The Captains House is perfectly located for exploring the far west, including nearby Cape Cornwall and ‘Poldark Country’. The local Crown Mines at Botallack (a World Heritage Site) and the film location used for the TV series Poldark is visible from the cottage. The scenic coastal road from Pendeen to St Ives was voted one of the most stunning drives in Europe, wending its way across heatherclad coastal moorland and passing Gurnicks Head - site of many shipwrecks, and the renowned pub and restaurant. Visit the quaint village of Zennor, home of the famous Mermaid of Zennor; St Just with its busy square, four pubs, art and craft shops, tea rooms, butchers, bakers and post office; the stunning white sand beach at Sennen, popular with surfers, or legendary Lands End, with its endless coastal walks.

They are located in the picturesque hamlet of Bodieve, less than one mile from the market town of Wadebridge, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants. From here, you can hire a bike or walk the Camel Trail, either to Padstow or in the other direction to Bodmin, along a disused railway track.     Braddon (ref 30081) is a single-storey cottage, once part of the open feeding area for the cattle, and is named after William Braddon, who owned and rebuilt Treworgie in 1654. The terrace to the rear of the cottage is a wonderful vantage point to appreciate the spectacular views and tranquillity of Cornwall. Braddon has its own raised deck for enjoying the glorious surroundings.
    Farmhouse (ref 30082) is a perfect base for a larger group or family. Sleeping up to twelve guests, the Farmhouse offers space and flexibility and is sympathetically furnished to compliment the traditional features of the property. It has an oil Aga, and an electric cooker in the second kitchen.
    Chappell (ref 30083) is a cosy, single-storey Cornish holiday cottage with a lovely view across the landscaped courtyard. Chappell, once part of the open feeding area for the cattle, has been tastefully restored into holiday accommodation and has been named after a previous owner of Treworgie in the 16th century.
    Butterwell (ref 30084) is an ‘upside-down’ cottage enjoying magnificent views across the rolling countryside, with a tantalizing glimpse of Dartmoor in the distance. Originally, the ground floor formed part of the dairy, and the first floor formed part of the granary. It has now been lovingly restored into a bright, contemporary cottage with its own balcony, great for enjoying the glorious surroundings from the comfort of your own cottage.
    Trespaddick (ref 30085) is a comfortable two-storey holiday cottage with beams throughout and has been converted from what was originally part of the stables, retaining some of its original features. Now, it enjoys delightful countryside views of Cornwall and to the distant sea from its own private patio. It also has its own raised deck so you can sit and enjoy the glorious surroundings.
    Warner (ref 30086) is a cosy, spacious cottage offering a traditional Cornish experience. It enjoys double aspect views from the living room and bedroom, and boasts two decked balcony areas.
    Manor (ref 30087), is a detached two storey holiday cottage, adjacent to the Farmhouse. Previously the tractor and machinery store, the cottage has been restored and is named after the Manor of Treworgie that once stood in the field behind at the rear.
    Priory (ref 30088) is a spacious ’upside-down’ cottage and enjoys superb views across the rolling Cornish countryside from the upstairs living room. A lovely suntrap is provided by a south facing terrace to the rear. Previously, the ground floor formed a significant part of the dairy, and the first floor a section of the granary. The cottage was named after the Priory of St Stephens at Launceston (owners of Treworgie between 1288 -1540).
