Kynance and Garden Cottage 1 are first floor apartments. These 10 holiday properties (refs W43562, W43563, W43564, W43565, W43566, W43567, W43568, W43569, W43570 and W43571) are located in the grounds of Tregenna Castle, where visitors are welcome to explore the magnificent 72-acre estate. The sub-tropical gardens showcase the botanical advantages of the Cornish climate. The walled garden features a clipped serpentine box hedge enclosing the ‘hot border’ and a beautifully scented lavender surround to the pond. The woodlands contrast the beautifully manicured lawns and sculpted hedges. Originally created in the 1920s, the Woodland Walk is a circular walk that skirts the perimeter of the estate and gives breathtaking sea views. There is shared use of an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, which are both heated. There is also a separate shallow children’s pool next to both the outdoor and indoor pools. The indoor pool is designed in a conservatory style and the outdoor pool enables swimmers to enjoy unrivalled panoramic views over St Ives Bay and Gwithian Towans. Guests can also enjoy use of a fitness suite (at a small charge), with lots of cardio equipment and weights, equipped with fully qualified members of staff. Tregenna Castle also caters for weddings.

From the fine golden sandy beaches and the turquoise, clear Atlantic Ocean, St. Ives consists of lots of quaint fishermen cottages, shops, galleries, bars and restaurants offering fresh catches of the day. St. Ives is easy to reach by road and by train. The railway line is wonderful, running adjacent to the beautiful coastline. The mild sub-tropical climate, warmed year round by the Gulf Stream allows for tropical gardens, which can be seen at Tregenna Castle. Perhaps most famous for its wonderful light which continues to attract artists from across the world, St. Ives is also home to The Tate. The gallery’s building stands high above the magnificent surfing beach of Porthmeor and features exhibitions which represent some of the greatest contemporary art of the time. Allied to Tate St Ives is the Barbara Hepworth Museum, a lasting memorial to the great sculptress who lived and worked in St. Ives at her Trewyn Studio. Her workshop has been carefully preserved and made accessible; the gardens and house contain many examples of her work and some of her finest pieces.

Cornwall is an amazing place to visit all year round and you will find Tregenna Castle the perfect base to explore the county’s many wonderful attractions. There are a number of destinations within a reasonable drive time that are a great day out for all ages whatever the weather. Theatre lovers are well served by the amazing Minack Theatre. Hewn out of a cliff, this stage sees the most fantastic natural sky and seascapes during its varied programme of productions. Garden lovers are spoilt for choice in Cornwall due to its sub-tropical climate. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trebah Gardens are just a few of the countys beautiful examples. For the thrill seekers and those interested in World War II and the Victorian era, Flambards Park, museum and gardens is just a 25-minute drive and has a wide range of children and adult rides, as well as award-winning exhibitions. The Park is a secret huddle of distinctively chic holiday properties, hidden in a tranquil valley garden just yards from a stunning beach on the north Cornwall coast. No two holiday homes are the same at this holiday park, with stylish lodges and cosy cottages which are all nestled in 27 acres of tranquil grounds. Some of these have private terraces with hot tubs, many have enclosed garden spaces. Most of the homes are dog-friendly, as is the beach, no matter what time of year you come and stay. You can swim in one of our two swimming pools, let off steam in the spa, or lounge in the café. There’s also a children’s play area, table tennis and a DVD library. The Park grounds offer sun traps, hidden pathways and fruit and herb gardens which guests are invited to sample. Next to the café is the heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room. Outside, you’ll find another heated pool in a south-facing garden setting with views across the valley, complete with a bar serving food and drinks throughout the summer.

If you’re looking for adventure, take a stroll along north Cornwall’s breath-taking coastal paths, beaches and cliffs. For something more extreme, learn to surf at a surf school on Mawgan Porth Beach, or maybe try kite surfing at Watergate Bay, just two miles down the coast. If your food supplies are running low, pick up some holiday essentials at the convenience store in Mawgan Porth Village, or dine at Jamie Oliver’s ’Fifteen’ restaurant at Watergate Bay, or Rick Stein’s Seafood Café at Padstow.

Cornwall has plenty of family attractions, and is also well-known for arts, culture, history, heritage, gardens, food, drink, film, TV and literature. Beaches in the local area, Watergate Bay, and the surf beaches of Newquay, lie within five miles along the coast road southwards, and the seven bays and beaches of St Merryn and Padstow are 10 miles to the north. Further afield, the beaches of Marazion, St Ives, Sennen, Kynance Cove, Falmouth, Perranporth and Porthcurno are among the top ten in the county (according to the Cornwall Guide). Even if the weather is poor, do what the locals do - wrap up warm, take a brisk walk in the wind, watch the waves crash on the rocks and let the Cornish sea air blow the cobwebs away!

Other attractions including the educational Eden Project and Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, are not far away. Cornwall is steeped in myths, legends and folklore, from ‘piskies’ and ’faeries’ to kings and castles. Cornwall’s 50-plus gardens all enjoy the warmth of the Gulf Stream, which means that many are home to rare tropical plants, flowers and trees. There are gardens of different scales in Cornwall, from the small and unusual to the large and more famous. Beach 300 yards. Shop and pub 250 yards, restaurant on-site.
