Cornwall

The Cornish coast is sometimes known as the English Riviera, and it’s easy to see why. The golden beaches, romantic coves and stunning scenery are blessed with more sunshine than rest of the country, and attract hordes of visitors all summer long. And there is no better way to experience the area than in a cottage with a swimming pool.

Cottages with private pools offer a moment of seclusion in major tourist destinations such as Bude, Saltash, St. Ives, Penzance, or Truro and the Roseland Peninsula. Urban areas such as Falmouth and Newquay will feel more personal and homely when you can return to your own private cottage in the evening. And in the more remote areas of Camelford, St Columb Major, Lostwithiel, Callington and the Tamar Valley, cottages with pools offer the perfect introduction to the wild natural beauty of rural Cornwall.

But of course, most people come here for one thing: the beaches. There are scores of stunning beaches to choose from, but for picturesque tranquillity it’s hard to beat Crackington Haven, Tintagel, Hayle or Marazion – which is right next to the iconic St Michael’s Mount.

Surfers love the high waves at Perranporth, and the long shoreline of Porthtowan, while sailing fans head for the calmer waters of Looe or Mevagissey, as well as Port Isaac (the pretty town where Doc Marten is filmed).

For walking holidays, Bodmin Moor is a must-visit, while the medieval harbour town of Boscastle and the rugged village of St Just boast some lovely off-the-beaten-track coastal treks. Helston and the Lizard Peninsula is another popular coastal route for hikers, while Mousehold and Newlyn is an up-and-coming walking destination.

Families will love the action-packed surroundings of Launceston, or the kid-friendly coves of St Agnes, St Austell, Kingsand and Cawsand where you can catch your very own Cornish crabs in the shallow sea waters! And for a real foodie treat, make a beeline to Padstow, where you will find some of the freshest seafood and finest restaurants in England.

But if you just want to find a quiet spot on the coast where you can get away from it all, choose a holiday cottage with a pool near Fowey, Sennen, Portreath, or Polperro which all boast pristine coastline and pretty town centres, but have yet to become mainstream attractions.

Whatever you are looking for, holiday cottages with pools in Cornwall will deliver an experience that you will never forget.
