Kingsand and Cawsand

A popular tourist destination, Kingsand and Cawsand are twin villages located in the south of Cornwall. The villages retain their old world charm and the juxtaposition between the dense green woodlands, pebble and sand beaches and the sheer cliffs make Kingsand and Cawsand the perfect, picturesque holiday destination.

Located on the coast of the Rame Peninsula, Kingsand and Cawsand have retained their quaint fishing village atmosphere and they remain unspoilt by commercialism. The beautiful open fields, peaceful pebbly beaches and stunning English architecture ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy and the thriving artistic community adds to the attraction of these gorgeous villages.

Notable landmarks in the villages include the clock tower along the seafront that was erected to commemorate the coronation of King George V and the building attached, known locally as The Institute. The Institute is home to a tapestry created by the residents of the village to commemorate the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and is well worth viewing. There are three churches in the villages and St. Julian has the highest possible position, giving great views across to Torpoint and Plymouth. Kingsand is also home to the Museum of Celebrity Leftovers, so if you are searching for something offbeat this is the ideal destination.

In the past, the towns were renowned for smuggling and although the original tunnels have been sealed up you can still see old fish cellars and boat stores scattered along the coast. The villages have a rich fishing history and there are several pubs and restaurants that offer meals made from locally caught fish. There are plenty of opportunities for scenic walks, boating activities and even horse riding through the woodlands.

Discover a truly unique seaside town and search for cottages in Kingsand & Cawsand for a great getaway.
