A large, comfortable and spacious semi-detached holiday house, close to many of the town’s beaches, Southpoint enjoys wonderful sea views and is in the perfect location for families to enjoy this diverse and vibrant town. It is just minutes from the golden sand of Porth Beach and Lusty Glaze Beach, which has a beachside restaurant and activity centre. A lawned garden provides perfect outdoor space for everyone. The surfing town of Newquay with its seven stunning beaches, many having beach front cafes, is a mile away with its many attractions, which include a zoo, a Sealife centre, cinema, leisure centre, golf course, pitch and putt course, parks and working harbour, where you can book sea fishing trips to catch food for the evening’s BBQ. Newquay has many restaurants, cafés, and shops as well as the beaches and dramatic cliff top walks. With its beaches comes surf and surf schools, so you can try your hand at this exhilarating sport.
Watergate Bay, a large sandy beach, has kite surfing and Jamie Oliver’s restaurant is 4 miles along the beautiful coast road. Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s food empire, is a must visit for all the family. Wander around the narrow streets that all lead to the working harbour and enjoy the ambiance provided by this traditional working fishing village. Truro, the capital of Cornwall, is easily reached and is a must to explore the narrow streets and enjoy the restaurants, shopping, museum, cinema and theatre for an alternative day or evening out. A flat walking and cycling trail links the town to Wadebridge and hugs the shoreline of the beautiful Camel Estuary all the way along this stunning trail. Bike hire is available at both ends. A top tip is to ride from Wadebridge to Padstow and enjoy fish and chips from Stein’s chippy on the harbour before the ride home.
Southpoint provides the ideal base to explore further afield, and visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and many National Trust houses and gardens, such as Lanhydrock House and Trerice Manor. St Ives, Falmouth, Fowey and Mevagissey are all easily reached and all provide an alternative day out. Golf, cycling, horse riding, surfing, sailing and kayaking are all available locally.
