Woodman’s Lodge is, as the name suggests, nestled within the trees on a road and provides lovely, open views across the grasslands from the terrace at the back. Adjacent to the owner’s home, this Norwegian, single-storey, detached pine lodge has been thoughtfully furnished to provide all the mod-cons, while retaining the charm of the building. It is perfectly placed for exploring the area with attractions to see in literally every direction. Close by lies Peterborough, with all the facilities and entertainment that you would expect of a city. Awarded the accolade of being a Heritage and Environment City, it boasts a magnificent Norman cathedral that’s well worth taking time to see. Burghley House and Gardens are also within easy reach, as is the pretty market town of Stamford. Tucked away between Stamford and Peterborough, you will also find John Clare House, home of the former poet, which has now been restored and is open to visitors. Young and mature alike will enjoy a visit to Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre, and indeed to Ferry Meadows Country Park which is a great place to cycle, fish or just while away a few hours in peaceful country surroundings. Also, well within reach lies the university city of Cambridge with its museums, colleges and punting trips on the River Cam. Ely is not to be missed either and offers a cathedral, known as The Ship of the Fens; and the stained glass museum. After a busy day of sightseeing, you’ll be able to return to Woodman’s Lodge, relax on the wooden terrace, take in the views of the countryside and unwind, perfect!
