Welsh Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

With a characterful interior and shared swimming pool, this ’upside-down’ style converted barn is peacefully tucked away.

In a hidden valley, surrounded by fields on every side, with red kites, buzzards and ravens circling above and with views of the Preseli Hills to the west, these peaceful holiday properties (refs OWV, OWU & OWW) are close to so much in west Wales. Fron Isaf Cottages nestle within the owners’ beautiful grounds and have been sensitively converted from old slate and stone barns into cosy and attractive holiday accommodation, and Ysgubor Uchaf (ref OWW) is a silver award winner with the Green Tourism Council. The stunning indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi make these very special properties. Each cottage has its own outdoor area with private seating and a barbecue. In addition there is a large mature garden with a decked seating area perfect for enjoying the rural views and watching the sun set over the Preselis.
The properties’ environmental credentials are strong. Water comes from a spring and much of the heating and hot water is from a geothermal source. A footpath leads directly from the cottages providing circular walks of varying length in the surrounding countryside.
The nearest town is Narberth, with its wonderful shopping opportunities. About half an hour’s drive to the south are Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth with their glorious beaches. While half an hour to the north the dramatic Pembrokeshire and Cardigan coastlines offer beautiful bays, sandy beaches and market towns like Newport, with its excellent restaurants and many good pubs. Carmarthen and Haverfordwest are half an hour away and both towns have a good range of shops, supermarkets and a market. Tourist attractions like Oakwood, Folly Farm, Anna’s Welsh Zoo, Blue Lagoon Water Park as well as The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens and St. Davids - Britain’s smallest city - make for a good day out. There are also at least seventeen castles to visit within an hour’s drive. Excellent walking in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and on the coast path, as well as activities like golfing, sailing, fishing, cycling and horse riding are plentiful in the area. Shop, 3½ miles, pub 1 mile.

We very much liked it here. Very quiet, peaceful location and our hosts were very helpful and friendly (amongst the nicest we've ever encountered - even sending us a follow-up letter afterwords). The cottage was very clean and well equipped and our hosts had gone to some trouble to provide a very helpful guide to not only the cottage, but places to visit, local establishments and so on. Good AV equipment provided and nice modern flat screen TV. There's even a free video library. All you could want really. Nice little touches like a welcome pack - milk/tea/coffee/biscuits etc - make a huge difference and put YSGUBOR ISAF at the top of our rating range (NB - I never give 10 as I need to reserve that rating for Heaven if I'm ever allowed in)

Great cottage situated in a very tranquil landscape. The pool facility was superb and offered added enjoyment to the holiday. The location of the cottage was well placed to go and explore the coastal towns, beaches, castles etc..

Lovely place to stay peaceful. Ideally situated to reach most of beaches in around 30 to 40 minutes. The indoor pool and jacuzzi is just the right size with the added bonus of a sauna for those days the rain is in town.

This is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. If peace, quiet with only birdsong and bees buzzing in the laburnum trees to wake you in the morning are what you want then this is the place for you. The on site pool with a jacuzzi is a great extra feature if you want to relax with a gentle swim. Red Kites regularly overhead, the deep 'pruk' call of Ravens, swallows nesting in an outhouse are an added bonus if, like us, you love nature and birds in particular. Phil and Jane who own the property and live on site are lovely and were excellent hosts. The information provided by them in the cottages is superbly detailed and comprehensive. This is one of the best holidays we have ever had.

Had a really good short break (1 week) ideally located and a good base to visit the West Wales area. Really enjoyed the pool (had a swim every day) jacuzzi and sauna. The hosts were welcoming and professional. Nice little touches were some fresh milk, tea and coffee on arrival.

Absolute bliss. We were warmly greeted by the owners, who were both very welcoming and lovely. We were delighted to find fresh milk, fresh flowers, chocolate and logs waiting for us on our arrival in our chocolate-box barn converted into the most quaint cottage in the most idyllic setting. Tucked into a Camarthen valley with views of the Presili Hills, this is the tranquil place of dreams. The sight of Red Kites dancing across the sky, tree-covered hilltops, combined with the sounds of sparrows, bluetits and blackbirds as well as lambs bleating from your very own balcony brought on a very serene sense of calm and stillness. Springtime is a perfect time to visit Ysugabor Isaf (Lower Barn), especially with the inviting bank of daffodils lining the approach, which really set the scene for a joyful stay. Thank you again.
