Welsh Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Description

Exposed stonework and a wealth of character make this an exquisite retreat for a couple exploring south west Wales.

In a hidden valley, surrounded by fields on every side, with red kites, buzzards and ravens circling above and with views of the Preseli Hills to the west, these peaceful holiday properties (refs OWV, OWU & OWW) are close to so much in west Wales. Fron Isaf Cottages nestle within the owners’ beautiful grounds and have been sensitively converted from old slate and stone barns into cosy and attractive holiday accommodation, and Ysgubor Uchaf (ref OWW) is a silver award winner with the Green Tourism Council. The stunning indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi make these very special properties. Each cottage has its own outdoor area with private seating and a barbecue. In addition there is a large mature garden with a decked seating area perfect for enjoying the rural views and watching the sun set over the Preselis.
The properties’ environmental credentials are strong. Water comes from a spring and much of the heating and hot water is from a geothermal source. A footpath leads directly from the cottages providing circular walks of varying length in the surrounding countryside.
The nearest town is Narberth, with its wonderful shopping opportunities. About half an hour’s drive to the south are Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth with their glorious beaches. While half an hour to the north the dramatic Pembrokeshire and Cardigan coastlines offer beautiful bays, sandy beaches and market towns like Newport, with its excellent restaurants and many good pubs. Carmarthen and Haverfordwest are half an hour away and both towns have a good range of shops, supermarkets and a market. Tourist attractions like Oakwood, Folly Farm, Anna’s Welsh Zoo, Blue Lagoon Water Park as well as The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens and St. Davids - Britain’s smallest city - make for a good day out. There are also at least seventeen castles to visit within an hour’s drive. Excellent walking in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and on the coast path, as well as activities like golfing, sailing, fishing, cycling and horse riding are plentiful in the area. Shop, 3½ miles, pub 1 mile.

Nice, cosy, comfortable cottage, with shared pool (2 other cottages). Good central location for exploring West Wales. Excellent "Out & About" guide book provided by owners, who were very welcoming.

We had a great week at Ysgubor Ganol. The cottage was absolutely perfect for two guests - well equipped and homely. It also had a beautiful garden in which to relax on a sunny evening, of which we had several. Our hosts, Phil and Jane were very welcoming and provided a lot of very helpful information on the area, including places to visit, pubs and restaurants and the like. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Ysgubor Ganol, which is situated in a beautiful part of Wales and can say unreservedly that Phil and Jane were the perfect hosts - there if you needed to ask any questions but at the same time unobtrusive.

A fantastic property and very comfortable. Location was beautiful and the hosts were very informative and approachable. The leisure complex was an added bonus. The "out and about" folder compiled by the owners, was very well used by us. A lot of care has gone into producing it. Would fully recommend this property to any one.

Get away from it all in this quiet location. Perfect for a couple. Very rural setting that suited us - perfect dark nights and bird song in the morning. Set on the side of a valley the Red Kites were a regular sight in the evenings. Seating outside for those sunny days, but was also a real luxury to have a sauna, jacuzzi and pool on site when rain threatens or bones need warming after a hard days walking. Log burner was a nice touch. Good road connections to get to all of the Pembroke coast with days out around Tenby, Narbeth, Skomer (puffins), Pembroke Castle and more. gorgeous beaches and walks - beats Cornwall! We'll definitely be back to this part of Wales, and would stay here again. The owners Phil and Jane were most welcoming and recommending activities to suit us, and gave us plenty of privacy.

Was delighted with the seclusion of the cottage, as it was un spoilt by the noise and busyness of modern life, hearing only birdsong, gave opportunity to completely relax. The on site pool ,sauna and jacuzzi added to this relaxation.Although remote (need to have groceries with you) it was ideally suited to explore many of the areas of significance ,encompassing all personal interests , walking /trekking,Coast, beach trips , castles etc , the list goes on. Found everything we needed in the cottage ,was also nice that heaters had been put on ,which gave a nice cosy feeling (even in early Sept),welcomed the fact that there was no additional charge for storage heaters ,or use of jacuzzi and sauna, as in some places.

A great property in a handy location for exploring everything that West Wales has to offer. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the pool/sauna/jacuzzi after a busy day out and about.

We enjoyed out stay at Ysgubor Ganol. The owners are friendly and the cottage is comfortable. We had fun in the swimming pool and the jacuzzi. We experienced a most beautiful sunset in the garden and watched stars on a clear night. Pembrokeshire has excellent coastal paths with spectacular views, we spent a lot of time walking. We also visited some castles, a few sea ports and St David's cathedral. It was a lovely holiday.
