Countryside admirers and walkers will be in their element here as there are around 13 miles of footpaths to explore!

Set in a spectacular location on the northern slopes of Exmoor National Park, a few hundred yards from the coast and with views of the Bristol Channel, Yenworthy Farm is situated in ‘Doone Country’, and actually appears in the novel itself. The gun which was supposedly used to repel the ‘Doones’ still hangs in the farmhouse to this day. This working farm once had its own mill and the old water wheel can still be seen. Two traditional barns in the courtyard of the farm have been sympathetically converted to offer a very high standard of accommodation throughout.
Yenworthy is ideal for walkers - a rugged pathway leads from the farm down to a secluded beach and there is direct access to one of the most scenic sections of the South West Coast Path. There are 13 miles of footpaths to explore on the farm itself and it even has its own historic monument - an old Roman Fort at Old Burrow. A haven for wildlife, it has four Sites of Special Scientific Interest and rare species of butterflies and trees. The nearest sandy beach is Lee Abbey (5 miles) and there are excellent surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton within easy driving distance. There are three pubs with restaurants within 3 miles and plenty of shops in Lynton and Lynmouth
(4 miles), Polock (7 miles), Minehead (13 miles) and Barnstaple (21 miles), which also has a popular covered market. River fishing and grazing for horses are available by arrangement. Shops 4 miles.

Spacious, beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove, wooden floor and French door to garden. Spacious, modern, well-equipped, fitted kitchen with beams. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet including disabled facilities. Lower ground floor: Two double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and toilet, one with additional set of bunk beds (for +2). Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower and toilet. Separate toilet with basin.

It's a great location and we appreciated the fact that the owners were relaxed about access onto and through the farm. The walk down to the beach is beautiful. Pluses: warm, spacious, very good showers and plenty of sensible, standard IKEA kitchen equipment. Acceptably but not expertly clean (bathrooms etc were fine but we went under the sofas to retrieve some of our kids' toys and found a whole host of other detritus). Minuses: cheap beds and bedlinen (including those stupid duvet covers with no fastenings, which means the duvet keeps escaping). The whole place looks like it was furnished on a budget in the early 90s and hasn't been updated since. Tired carpets and curtains ( complete with mould stains in our bedroom). A LOT of cheap pine. If you want somewhere warm and practical where you won't need to fret about children or dogs, it's great. If you put a premium on sleeping comfortably and waking up to a nice view (the bedrooms are downstairs and look on to the courtyard) then maybe look elsewhere.

A lovely barn conversion in a very pretty part of the country. Excellent for walking as it sits very close to the SW coast path. Owners are very friendly and approachable. Was perfect for our stay.

A delightful barn located in a beautiful setting. The barn was family friendly, well stocked and thoughtfully laid out for a disabled person. Yes,I unreservedly recommend it.

The barn is beautiful and in a peaceful location. The weather was fab and it's one of the most dog friendly places I have stayed in.

Location a little remote but lovely, beautiful setting. Barn very roomy and comfortable and perfect for 3 generations of our family including elderly parents. The disabled facilities in the upstairs ensuite was perfect for them. The barn was much bigger than it looks on the photographs. We had some problems with the cooker but the caretaker nigel was very helpful and helped us sort the problem. Great for our 2 dogs too. A 2nd tv would have been good . Only one in the whole property.

Yenworthy Barn was a brilliant place for 3 generations of our family to spend a week. Plenty of space inside and the ability to wander round the farm plus visiting nearby beaches was ideal. We enjoyed being away from the more densely populated areas and would definitely choose to go there again
