Description

Countryside admirers and walkers will be in their element here as there are around 13 miles of footpaths to explore!

Set in a spectacular location on the northern slopes of Exmoor National Park, a few hundred yards from the coast and with views of the Bristol Channel, Yenworthy Farm is situated in ‘Doone Country’, and actually appears in the novel itself. The gun which was supposedly used to repel the ‘Doones’ still hangs in the farmhouse to this day. This working farm once had its own mill and the old water wheel can still be seen. This is one of two traditional barns in the courtyard of the farm and has been sympathetically converted to offer a very high standard of accommodation throughout.
Yenworthy is ideal for walkers - a rugged pathway leads from the farm down to a secluded beach and there is direct access to one of the most scenic sections of the South West Coast Path. There are 13 miles of footpaths to explore on the farm itself and it even has its own historic monument - an old Roman Fort at Old Burrow. A haven for wildlife, it has four Sites of Special Scientific Interest and rare species of butterflies and trees. The nearest sandy beach is Lee Abbey (5 miles) and there are excellent surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton within easy driving distance. There are three pubs with restaurants within 3 miles and plenty of shops in Lynton and Lynmouth
(4 miles), Polock (7 miles), Minehead (13 miles) and Barnstaple (21 miles), which also has a popular covered market. River fishing and grazing for horses are available by arrangement. Shops 4 miles.

Spacious, beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove, wooden floor and French door to garden. Spacious, modern, well-equipped, fitted kitchen with beams. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet including disabled facilities. Lower ground floor: Two double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and toilet, one with additional set of bunk beds (for +2). Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower and toilet. Separate toilet with basin.

We really enjoyed our stay at Yenworthy Barn and would definitely return. We had a problem with the heating but this was very quickly sorted by the owner and caretaker which was very much appreciated.

Party of 10 (7adults 3children) and 2 dogs had a lovely stay at yenworthy barn! The barn was perfect, lots of room for all the family very clean and set in a beautiful location with great scenery and walks! Went to a great pub called Blueball Inn served great food and dog friendly, was about 5 mins drive from barn on road heading towards Lynmouth. Nearest shops about 10 min drive.

Lovely, comfortable barn in beautiful surroundings. We had a warm welcome and the technical problems we had as a result of storm Doris didn't make any difference to our week!

We had a lovely family weekend at this accommodation - there was plenty of room for 8 adults and one child and it is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped (although could have done with a couple more chopping boards). The bedrooms are all a nice size and the en-suites and bathroom were very good (all the showers had great water pressure and plenty of hot water). The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the wine and flowers on arrival was a nice touch. The only tiny negative comment I have is that there was no hairdryer available which is really unusual as all of the self catering accommodation we have booked previously have had at least one. However, it obviously didn't spoil our enjoyment and we would definitely go back here.

A lovely property, set in a beautiful and incredibly well kept and managed farm. Plenty of space for our group of 8, and an open plan area that allowed us to be together when we wanted but also do separate things at other times. A good location for exmoor and the coast too.

We had a really lovely time here and would definitely come again. The Barn is spacious and comfortable and we had a great welcome from Hazel, who looks after the Barn. Lynmouth is a friendly place and although the views from the Barn itself aren't great, the scenery surrounding it is truly spectacular. The drive down through the lane is beautiful with masses of wild foxgloves (June) and a sense of seclusion and anticipation.

The weekend was to celebrate my 50th birthday with girlfriends. There were 9 in our party and we had he best time. Yenworthy Barn is in a superb location, it is well equipped....everything you need for all types of catering, even cake tins if you wanted to bake! I highly recommend and will definitely be going back, would love to go in the Autumn/Winter and get the log burner working!
