Description

Set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park Conservation Area, this property is filled with charm and original features making it a cosy retreat.

Magnificent position

Set in a magnificent position within the Dales National Park Conservation Area, overlooking Gayle Beck and waterfalls, this holiday property dates back to circa 1800 and was originally part of the storage and yarn knitting industry associated with the nearby Gayle Mill. The beamed living room with its cast iron flame effect stove makes a cosy retreat from the surrounding hills whilst the kitchen offers every modern convenience. Access to the property is narrow, so parking is available off road, hard standing, 20 yards from the cottage, for several cars, free of charge.
Situated close to the Pennine Way there is excellent walking direct from the door for both the rambler or the serious walker and in the bustling market town of Hawes, a 10-minute walk away, there is a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants offering a wide variety of choices to suit every palate. Also in Hawes you can visit the Dales Folk Museum, the ropemakers, the pottery or the famous Wensleydale Creamery.
Yarn House is ideally located for visiting the local dales, the Lake District, York, Northumberland and the historic houses, castles and abbeys of Yorkshire.

Yarn house was of a high standard and in a great location however our group did not feel it is suitable for 8 adults. The dining area is only comfortable for 6 really and only having two toilets is again not adequate for 8. We were offered Yarn House at a late stage as our original booking in Hawes was closing. So we were aware of smaller living area on ground floor and there only being two toilets, and for our group if 6 adults plus one small child felt it would be manageable. It was OK but another toilet instead if third shower would be better. Cetainly we would not go with more than 6 people there but would consider it again for smaller party as location is great.

We had an amazing time, it just wasn't long enough! The cottage is huge, & is packed to the rafters with amenities, really impressed & will be booking again, stroll away from Hawes village with lots of pubs! & the wenslydale factory is literally around the corner is deffinetly worth a visit.

We had a lovely weekend. The house was lovely and warm, and beautifully clean. The owner had left us some basics, such as milk, biscuits, coffee and tea. I would definitely recommend the house. The beds were comfortable. Lovely house. Only slight downside is that parking was a little bit difficult. Its on a road, on a bend, and there's not a lot of room. However, we did get parked close by, so it wasn't that difficult.

A very interesting house with loads of character which suited our party perfectly. The local amenities in Hawes are only a short walk away and are excellent especially the pubs which offer a good selection of foods and welcoming friendly hosts and regulars. The house was warm and comfortable with just about everything you could think of by way equipment in the kitchen. Location by the river superb.

This cottage was on a lovely spot just 10 minutes walk from a lovely small town with everything in it that you could want. Only drawback no garden to sit in or to be able to have bbq in otherwise perfect
