Description

Garn Goch, the site of an Iron Age fort with views of the Towy Valley, is 3 miles from the property.

Y Bwthyn (Little Cottage) is one of three Cennen Cottages properties situated in a courtyard setting within one of the most beautiful and secluded areas in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The properties are architect-designed conversions of C19 stone barns and are finished to a very high standard. They form part of historic Blaenllynnant Farm, the home of Sir John Williams who was physician to Queen Victoria and the founder of the National Library of Wales. Each property is well separated from the others and has its own lawned grounds and outstanding views of the Black Mountain. Red kites and buzzards abound.
This is excellent walking country, not only on Blaenllynnant Farm itself, but also to nearby Carreg Cennen Castle (named Wales’ most spectacular castle) and the Black Mountain. Garn Goch, the site of an Iron Age fort with superb views of the upper Towy Valley, is only 3 miles away. There are good restaurants and pubs in Llandeilo (6 miles), Llangadog (8 miles) and the village of Trap (4 miles). Within easy driving distance are the Gower, Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire coasts. Nearby attractions include the National Botanical Garden of Wales, Aberglasney Garden and, in Llandeilo, Dinefwr Castle and Park. Shops 6 miles.
The properties are easily accessible, being only 12 miles from the end of the M4 and 8 miles from the A40.

Great place for a holiday, lovely area, well appointed cottage in a peaceful setting. As the cottage is in a very rural location the roads are a bit challenging for drivers not used to single track with limited passing. However it doesn't detract from the holiday experience. Lots to do and see in the area.

If you are a countryphile who doesn't mind driving down single track lanes to get to the middle of nowhere then Cennen Cottages on the northern foothills of the Black Mountain are an idyllic location with amazing countryside views that more than reward the effort. When these farm buildings were converted they were obviously done to a very high standard. They are starting to show some wear and tear and the owners need to keep on top of maintenance to keep the standard up, silly little things like light bulbs blown are unnecessary. I repaired the dishwasher dispenser door which was hanging off, but there was no rinse aid or salt for it. More serious things like the patio doors internally condensed need sorting out, if only because this distracts from the view. The one thing that would make me think twice about returning is the amount of mould around the baths which is totally unacceptable and unnecessary. Give the cleaner some spray bleach and a brush and tell her to use them!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry that you found several things not up to the standards you expected. If you had only contacted us during your stay many of the things that you took issue with could have been fixed immediately. We thank you for your constructive criticism and have acted upon several of your points. The patio door is no longer condensed and we have completely resealed the bath. We were not aware of the dishwasher drawer being broken but thank you for fixing it, as for the light bulbs situation we leave spare bulbs within the cottage and if we missed a blown bulb we can only apologise. We are happy that overall you enjoyed your stay and we would love to welcome you back in the future.

Fabulous new build cottage. Excellent facilities and utensils. Very comfortable. Slightly out of the way (15 mins to town), but lovely rural setting with fields of sheep everywhere.
