Set within a 6 acre small holding near the border of both Pembrokeshire and Camarthenshire

Set within a six acre small holding in idyllic countryside, near the border of the beautiful counties of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, lies Y Bwthyn; a recently renovated, two bedroomed barn conversion epitomising care, consideration and good taste. Beneath its impressive, original A frame vaulted beamed ceiling, the 21st century creature comforts of under floor heating, broadband and a host of appliances offer maximum convenience; while exposed stone walls, slate floors and wood burning stove invite guests to revel in its rustic charm. The spacious, one storey accommodation provided by Y Bwthyn is ideal for young and old alike. Children get the opportunity to occupy bunk beds surrounded by the unique features of what was once the old pig sty, while those less mobile can benefit from its well appointed wet room and disabled friendly lay out. Y Bwthyn really does offer the perfect place to relax, unwind and absorb the restorative qualities of nature. Its garden offers al fresco dining and wildlife spotting, while rare red kites, buzzards and even woodpeckers pass overhead. Its caring owners delight in introducing guests to their lambs, sheep, ducks, chickens and family of pet rabbits and their organic vegetable garden and free range eggs offer wholesome nutrition at reasonable cost. Canine companions are offered the freedom of one of the owners’ fields while any additional family and friends that fancy coming along can arrange to pitch a tent at the owners’ small campsite. The quaint village pub, just a short walk away, serves  a range of real ales and ciders. In all, a stay at Y Bwthyn provides the perfect antidote to the chaos of urban life.

The cottage was listed as 4 star and may well have been at one time but could now do with some TLC. The bed in the main bedroom had seen better days and we had to repair it, as two of the pine slats had broken. The oven wasn't as clean as we would wish and the sofas had also seen better days. The frying pan and one of the saucepans were very worn. However, on a positive note, the wet-room was lovely, the cottage was warm, even without the woodburner being lit and it was in a nice location, central to all areas we wanted to visit. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Just a little attention to detail would make this a better place to stay.

Lovely holiday in a comfortable cottage in extensive grounds. We both really enjoyed the tranquillity of the beautiful surroundings, the local roads are in great condition unlike in some of the rural places we have stayed and are a pleasure to drive on, which is handy as you will need to enjoy driving if you want to go anywhere to buy food or a meal. Our hostess and neighbour were both the absolute models of hospitality and made the holiday even better. However since there is a for sale board up outside I would suggest you book while you can!
