Description

This lovely cottage offers a quiet haven in a beautiful location but plenty to do right from the doorstep.

Located on the vast Woolhanger Estate, these three highly individual, detached holiday properties (refs HTTH, HTTJ and HTTK) have been converted from old farm buildings to provide very comfortable, well-appointed accommodation. They offer a quiet haven but with plenty to do on the doorstep. There is great walking on the many footpaths in the area, including up to Challacombe Reservoir, a hidden little gem. The working farm estate has a wonderful wedding venue location in its spectacular Victorian music room and the cottages can be used in conjunction with Woolhanger Farmhouse to provide accommodation for guests. As well as walking on Exmoor, there is plenty to do within easy reach of the cottages. In Ilfracombe there are the Tunnel Beaches, harbour and numerous shops and restaurants, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and at Lynton, the funicular railway runs to Lynmouth, or take a trip on the narrow gauge railway at Woody Bay. At Croyde and Woolacombe are some of the best surfing beaches in the country as well as many small coves and bays. There are NT properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Shop and pub 500 yards.

Two double bedrooms, each with 6ft zip and link bed; one with en-suite shower room and toilet. Bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet. First floor: Living/dining room with gas woodburner, wooden floor and spacious well-equipped kitchen area with wooden floor. Utility.

We had a lovely time here, despite being joined by Storm Brian! This is a lovely house with a really nice pub that does great food within an easy walk.

A lovely cottage, you have everything there that you will need for your stay, it was very clean and well presented, the welcome pack that was left in the cottage was fantastic, the best welcome pack we have ever had, very lovely, the two bedrooms were superb, very big and plenty of wardrobe space. Overall, it was perfect, cannot fault the cottage at all.

We enjoyed a wonderful week in Devon in this delightful cottage with beautiful views across the Exmoor National Park. Feeling tucked away in peaceful and scenic surroundings, we were lucky enough to be blessed with the last of summer's warmth as we dined al fresco enjoying stunning sunsets. However, the local pub, The Black Venus Inn, did tempt us out one evening and the meal turned out to rank as one of our favourites of all times! Woolacombe and Barricane Beaches did not seem too far away and the Atlantic waves rolling in across thousands of miles were perfect for body-boarding. We also enjoyed trips to Valley of Rocks, Lynmouth and Dunster Castle. Our last and most endearing memory turned out to be of the wild ponies roaming the moor on our journey home along the spectacular heritage coastal route.

A wonderful cottage ideally situation for easy access to major tourist attractions, i.e.: Lynton, Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Minehead, Woolacombe, Croyde etc. The cottage is very clean and well equipped. The two bedrooms are spacious, one having en suite. A truly good property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the welcome pack provided was excellent.

This is a lovely 'upside' down property with great views over the surrounding hills from the upstairs windows. Furnished to a high, rustic standard it is very comfortable, warm and homely. The welcome pack is excellent. The local shop is a general store and stocks most things despite its small size including some tasty, hot pasties and pies. The local pub does the most amazing cuisine, a must for any stay. There are plenty of good walks around the village of Challacombe and we were blessed with some really sunny weather which was an added bonus for April. Although the converted barn is on a working sheep farm you would no know it, it is very quiet! The garden has a spacious, sheltered decking area which is great to sit out on in the sun and soak in the peaceful surroundings. Will definitely stay again.

The Old Dairy Barn is a home from home place to stay, with everything you would need for a very comfortable stay. We stayed over the New Year break and it was lovely to find a christmas tree up in the lounge on our arrival, such a lovely touch for a Christmas break.
