There are many positives about this property but the lounge lets it down a bit. It is very dark at times, being overshadowed by trees, and the fire needs constant attention to keep it going well and not smoking. However, the rest of the house is very pleasant and the position, and views, cannot be bettered.

The location of this property is just so stunning that it makes up for the lack of internet, a slightly shabby feel to the sitting room, bits of plaster missing from one wall, no hairdryer (eek! I was staying there for my daughter's wedding!!) and a rather grimy bath. The views from the garden are just gorgeous and we loved sitting out in the sun. It's definitely a 3+ star property at most but if we went again we'd know what to expect and would be happy to return, with suitably appropriate expectations. We were delighted that it is dog friendly too. We frequently hire cottages around the country and this is a beautiful building that just perhaps needs (and deserves) a little bit more TLC. My art consultant son was desperate to update the walls!

We used the cottage as our base for the Hay Festival. Easy drive to/from Hay (approx. 20 minutes). Excellent facilities in the cottage amidst beautiful scenery.

Absolutely loved this cottage! It was very comfortable, the main bedroom, downstairs bathroom with roll top bath and kitchen with cosy Rayburn were the best features. Oh, and the garden! The views are to die for and the walks straight from the door with the dogs was a real bonus. Put a 9 on location instead of 10 simply because it was a bit far from a decent pub! But that is obviously a very personal opinion. Went to Weobley, lovely village with great pub (Salutation) and good Indian restaurant. Also visited Hay on Wye and the Brecon Beacons which were close by. Would definitely return.

Wonderful location and very well equipped - the sofas in the lounge were a tad low and uncomfortable but overall excellent on every other score Walks through the estate were brilliant so the dogs enjoyed the break too. Highly recommended - we will be back!
